More containers moved through the Napoleon Avenue Container Terminal at the Port of New Orleans in March and April 2016 than in any two months in the Port’s history.
The Board of Commissioners of the Port of New Orleans announced today that President and CEO Gary LaGrange will retire at the end of his current contract in April, 2017. The Board is expected to name Brandy D. Christian, the Port’s current Chief Operating Officer, to succeed LaGrange.

The Board of Commissioners of the Port of New Orleans joined a host of elected officials and industry partners today to dedicate the Port’s new $25 million Mississippi River Intermodal Terminal. The terminal, made possible by a $16.7 million federal transportation TIGER grant, has a capacity of moving 160,000 twenty-foot-equivalent units (TEUs) per year by rail.

Port of New Orleans cruise terminals handled more than 1-million passengers in 2015, totaling 1,023,700, up 1 percent compared to 2014. The total marks the fifth consecutive record year and with new and larger ships on tap for 2016, Port officials expect another robust cruise season.

The Board of Commissioners of the Port of New Orleans today elected Mr. William T. Bergeron chairman. Mr. Bergeron represents St. Bernard Parish and joined the Board in November of 2012 when he was appointed by Gov. Bobby Jindal. He succeeds Mr. Scott H. Cooper, whose term as chairman expired this month. Mr. Cooper will continue to serve as a commissioner. In addition, Mr. Michael W. Kearney was elected vice chairman and Mr. Robert R. Barkerding, Jr. as its secretary-treasurer.

Port of New Orleans President and CEO Gary LaGrange received the 2015 McCullough Award today at the National Industrial Transportation League’s 108th annual meeting, which is being held in New Orleans for the first time since 1985. The award is presented annually by the League’s Board of Directors and Logistics Management magazine to the ‘Logistics Executive of the Year” and is named after John T. McCullough, a former chief editor of Distribution magazine, a predecessor to Logistics Management.
